In a historic move, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has designated #PFOA and #PFOS, two legacy #PFAS chemicals, as hazardous substances under the #Superfund law. Slingshot applauds this decision which will provide critical tools to protect communities from these persistent pollutants and hold polluters financially responsible for cleanup. "This action is particularly important for low-income communities and communities of color who are more likely to live in communities near industrial sites or waste sites highly contaminated with PFAS. That being said, there are literally over 14,000 PFAS out there and the EPA needs to list all of these chemicals as a class under Superfund," said Slingshot Co-Executive Director Dana Colihan in WBUR https://lnkd.in/guckMp37
