Yesterday was fun. In connection with our filing a new turnover proceeding to collect on an $18 million judgment, the Court granted a TRO barring the debtor and his dozens of accomplices from transferring real property. New York courts provide no cover to deadbeat fraudsters who attempt to evade Article 52 judgment collection. Upon serving the TRO, we received an immediate response from one witness -- the debtor's ex-counsel -- that the debtor had threatened physically violence against his own lawyer. Unfortunately, this was unsurprising, as the debtor had previously attempted to intimidate our client with murder if he did not capitulate. It is now in the Court's hands - and with a sprawling asset freeze spanning a dozen properties throughout New York, as well as a contempt application. Game on. #fraud #judgmentenforcement
