关于我们
The Skoll Foundation seeks to catalyze transformational social change by investing in, connecting, and championing social entrepreneurs and other social innovators who together advance bold and equitable solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Jeff Skoll, the first employee and first President of eBay, created the Skoll Foundation in 1999 to pursue his vision of a sustainable world of peace and prosperity for all. Led by CEO Don Gips, the Skoll Foundation is at an exciting inflection point in its two-decade long history. With equity at the center of an evolving strategy, the Foundation seeks to fundamentally shift the trajectory of urgent global challenges including health and pandemics, inclusive economies, climate action, effective governance, and racial justice. Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $935 million worldwide, including investments in 165 organizations of social entrepreneurs and other social innovators across five continents. Skoll also operates the annual Skoll World Forum, the premier conference on social entrepreneurship, and shares the stories of social entrepreneurs through partnerships with leading film and broadcast organizations including the PBS NewsHour and the Sundance Institute, to drive awareness of social entrepreneurship and its potential to address the critical issues of our time. ?? Journey to Transformation Series: “Evolving Philanthropy for Collective Action” We are excited to kick off our new series, "Social Innovation and the Journey to Transformation", with the first article, “Evolving Philanthropy for Collective Action.” In the article, authored by the Skoll Foundation’s Marla Blow and Don Gips, we highlight successful approaches to fostering more of the collective action that is needed to achieve truly transformational change. This article reflects on the evolution of the Skoll Foundation’s work since the 2007 piece in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, “Social Entrepreneurship: The Case for Definition,” by Sally Osberg and Roger L. Martin, Inc.. Seventeen years later, the values and ideas shared in that article—including the need for greater and more sustained support of social innovators—continue to serve as a clarion call. The piece highlights the different ways in which philanthropy can play an even larger role in providing innovators that sustained support and helping them take their solutions to the next level of scale and sustainability. In addition to financial support, we also heard that social innovators need more connections to work effectively with government and leaders across sectors and new approaches to unlocking other funding. Join us as we chronicle the different roads that have led to collective action and social transformation.
