Ever thought gaming could solve our tech talent crisis? ?? Skillquest and?Genesys Works Twin Cities?collaborated on a game-changer: a LIVE esports programming battle. Here’s the scoop: ?? The Program: In Genesys Works Summer Training, 250+ students coded their way into a live STEM/esports tournament at?Wisdom Gaming?[Mall of America]. ?? The Twist: Students used Python to program bots that play Rocket League. Most started with zero coding experience! It all culminated in a LIVE event. ?? The Spirit: Students cheering each other on. The camaraderie was palpable - the kind you need to break into tech. ?? The Need: An impending 80M-person tech talent shortage globally. In the Twin Cities alone, we're staring at 80,000 open tech roles, with only a fraction being filled by local graduates. ?? The Impact: Inspire and identify the next generation of tech talent through real impact. Genesys Works student stats: - 98% BIPOC - 54% women - 100% need-based backgrounds ?? The Change: These young professionals get internships at companies like?Target,?Medtronic, and?Best Buy?during their senior year. I wish I could have started exploring my career that early! ?? Want to turn the tech tide? At Skillquest, we craft immersive tech experiences. If you're keen to inspire, build a talent pipeline, and make a mark in the tech space, let’s chat! ----------------------------- And congrats to the winners of the competition: 1st place: Ramsey Blackstone [programmer of Ram Bot] 2nd place: Toua Hang [programmer of Lost Cause] 3rd place: Ywjpheej Yang [programmer of Carl] The winners will have features in future LinkedIn posts, to highlight these young stars' careers!
