"They not like us!" - A Historic Moment at the 2024 Venture Atlanta Conference. It was an absolute honor to stand alongside the legendary Dawn Staley as we made history — two Black women commanding the main stage at Venture Atlanta Conference for the first time ever. As the moderator of the closing keynote, I was both humbled and empowered by the opportunity to engage in such an impactful conversation with one of the greatest minds in sports and leadership. Dawn Staley, a former University of Virginia collegiate basketball star, WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) legend, Olympian, and now the Head Coach of the 2024 undefeated women's basketball NCAA Championship South Carolina Gamecocks, shared her journey from player to coach. She captivated the audience with her authenticity and wisdom, saying: ?? "I never wanted to be a coach!" ?? "Sometimes you gain by losing." ?? "The disciplined person can do anything." ?? "As a leader, I'm unafraid to make the unpopular right decision." ?? Dawn’s insights into leadership, discipline, and making tough but right decisions resonated deeply.
