Managers aren’t failing. Companies are failing their managers. Most managers aren’t set up for success. They’re promoted because they’re great individual contributors, but leadership requires a completely different skill set. And then companies don’t bother investing in developing those skills. We expect managers to be coaches, strategists, and problem-solvers...but without training, support, or the right tools, they end up overwhelmed and underprepared. We see this play out all the time at SkillCycle. What helps? Ongoing development, not just one-and-done training. We need to equip managers with the skills and support they need to lead effectively. So, now I ask you - if you could give every new manager one piece of advice, what would it be?
