Annie Meizhu Deng, MSA '18 and Accounting Manager at Logitech, credits the MS in Accounting and Analytics program at San Jose State University for shaping her into the accounting professional she is today. "The one-year MSA program is informative yet challenging, which established a solid foundation for my accounting career switch. The rigorous curriculums cover not only accounting theory, but also case studies and ethics. It strengthened my practical skills and enabled me to apply to CPA exams during the program. Thus I obtained my CPA license one year after graduation," says Deng. "I had the privilege to collaborate with classmates from various cultural and professional backgrounds through team projects. Engaging with instructors and peers who specialize in transportation matters further fueled my passion for leadership, communication, and innovation," said Nyaga. "One notable achievement was my involvement with Caltrans, where I spearheaded the implementation of the Construction Mentor Protégé Program (CMPP). This initiative supports nascent construction firms, particularly those that are small and disadvantaged, enabling them to compete effectively in Caltrans projects. The CMPP emphasizes equity, economic prosperity, mentorship, and skill enhancement." "As a result of the program’s success, the Caltrans Director chose me to expand it statewide in California – and with great success. Additionally, other State DOTs have expressed interest in adopting our model for similar programs.
