SJCA Inc. Environmental Resources staff performed a Bat and Roosting Bird inspection on Monday under Sam Jones Expressway over I-70 in Indianapolis as a subconsultant for part of an I-70 corridor pavement/bridge maintenance project. Some species of bats are listed as endangered or threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act, and many species of birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Both federal laws prohibit actions that harm these animals.

SJCA Inc. encourages employees to participate in community service by allowing volunteer time during working hours and organizing company volunteer events. On Monday, a group of 16 SJCA staff volunteered several hours of time to combat food insecurity. In that time, we sorted and boxed food donations that will help provide 2,410 meals. In the area served by Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, one in eight people face hunger, and one in six children face hunger. Gleaners is one of 200 food banks in the Feeding America Network.
