Bay FC is playing in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) playoffs this weekend, only the second expansion franchise in league history to make the postseason in its first year. ? Less than 18 months ago, we announced Sixth Street’s $125 million investment to co-found the club. Sixth Street is the first institutional investment firm to build a top tier U.S. pro sports franchise from the ground up. ? The Bay FC team has accomplished so much in that short amount of time: the infrastructure, the brand (Bay FC is already the most followed NWSL team on Tik Tok), the sales and marketing operation…our front office and training staff have all done a remarkable job. ? We’ve been amazed by the athletes who have come from around the world to embrace and be embraced by the #BayArea community. Their talent, heart, and dedication has been an inspiration to me and to our firm, and Sixth Street will be cheering them on not just this weekend but for many years to come.?? ? We said from the beginning that in this first year the most important thing was building a One Team culture.?And so?-- whatever happens from here -- we’re most proud of how the entire organization has come together, not focused on any one individual’s achievements but dedicated to celebrating the success of those around them. ? Let’s go. #BLegendary. ? --- Bay FC @ Washington Spirit, Sunday, 9:30am PT / 12:30pm ET, national broadcast on ABC

What happens when you put two strangers from across the political divide together, not to talk about politics, but just to get to know each other as human beings? ? That’s what Dave Isay wanted to find out. ? The Founder and President of StoryCorps, for the past twenty years Dave and his team of “facilitators” have been recording people tell their personal stories, spotlighting the idea that tremendous good can come from simply getting people to talk and listen to one another. ? Over 700,000 stories later, covering 50 states in more than 50 languages, with 13 seasons and over 500 episodes on NPR, Dave has shown time and again the importance of recognizing the value of humanity in everyone regardless of their politics, religion, or background, and how the act of listening can provide new perspectives and transform lives in unexpected ways. ? The StoryCorps team took that knowledge to form One Small Step, an initiative that bridges the gap between strangers with differing political views during a polarizing election season. ? Dave came to San Francisco recently to speak to the Sixth Street team in a conversation with Sixth Street Co-Founder and Co-President David Stiepleman about One Small Step and what he’s learned from a career of facilitating human connections in an increasingly impersonal world.? ? As a firm with a culture centered on encouraging and cultivating open communication and respectful debate, the Sixth Street Foundation is proud to support One Small Step and we thank Dave for his time speaking about the powerful impact he’s making.
