Hospitality is definitely a business that builds character, grit and a work ethic. It is not for everybody. Within the ecosystem there are those that are in it for a “reason, a season or a lifetime”. Some enhance another career with the extra income, others leverage the segments flexible scheduling while in school, then there are those that are in it for a lifetime. Those that are passionate about serving others. Those that, even before Yelp reviews, are the reasons guests visit our restaurants and bars and request their tables. Today we lost one of those passionate servants. Our @central_detroit family mourns the very untimely loss of Norris Schell, who was tragically taken from us this weekend. The outpouring of symphathy is appreciated but not all surprising. Over the past several years, I don’t believe a week has gone by where I haven’t received a text or call regarding how special Norris made a guest or group feel. His sneaker game was tight, his love for house music and going out to dance was loved by his coworkers and friends at Spotlight, TV Lounge, Marble Bar and all the other place that were graced with his smile, that special laugh, and at time his glamorous pearls. I am personally disheartened and encourage you all to be patient with our staff as we get through this week and the immediate future. Cheers, Norris. We love you ?? Dennis
