We knew we had to do something truly special to celebrate #Footloose turning 40 in 2024, and after a year of incredible moments, we can finally say we did it! 📍From Austin to Boston and Fargo to Phoenix, SixDegrees.Org danced across the country, kicking off our Sunday shoes in communities big and small to harness the power of collective impact. With a load of kits on their way to South Dakota, we’ve officially reached all 50 states through #BKxKB! 🤝We could not have done it without every single one of you who showed up in a community center or on a football field, made a gift from afar, and cheered us on via social media. Every kit you packed, every card you wrote, every conversation you had sparked a ripple of kindness around you. 🎶Wednesday was a special day in #Philadelphia as we celebrated the grand opening of the first SixDegrees.Org Ruth's Room with our incredible partners at Rock to the Future! Witnessing this underutilized room in the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center be transformed into an inviting space for young people to experience the healing and connecting power of music has been remarkable. 💙It is a true privilege to launch this deeply meaningful initiative alongside Jessica Craft and Josh Craft of Rock to the Future who, just like Ruth Bacon, saw a need in their community and couldn't look away. We are so grateful to Jessica and Josh for their leadership and to the many Philadelphia partners who joined us to make the inaugural Ruth's Room a space that truly honors Ruth's legacy. The SixDegrees.Org Board of Directors gathered for a leadership retreat last week and walked away energized and excited about the year ahead! ☑️From broad visioning sessions to checking off concrete action items and rolling up our sleeves to pack 100 #BKxKB resource kits for Shelter House, Inc, a local Fairfax nonprofit, it was a productive day filled with big ideas and meaningful work to move us forward. We also honored our outgoing board members for their years of service. Jessica Morris, Matt Pearce, and Mark Robinson have played a pivotal role in the transformation of SixDegrees.Org over the years, and we are so grateful for their contributions. 🥂We ended our day by hosting a special social to get to know some of our neighbors in Fairfax, where we look forward to developing new relationships and working together for impact.
