We center and uplift Black pregnant people, families & communities in their reproductive journeys??
关于我们
SisterWeb San Francisco Community Doula Network (SisterWeb) was created from a deep commitment and passion to address the dire pregnancy and birth-related healthcare inequities experienced by Black pregnant and birthing people. Founded in fall 2018, SisterWeb was born of the shared vision held by professional birth workers and educators from these same communities. We center and uplift Black and Brown birthing people and families in their reproductive journey to welcome their children with respect, dignity, joy, and pride, leading to thriving families and communities and increased birth equity and justice.

Do you ever want to know what's happening behind the scenes when working towards maternal health justice? Regina Endoso has insight on how her internship position at SisterWeb helped her take the steps she needed for identifying program improvement ?? . Here are some steps to use evaluations to ensure program success. ?? Having a guiding framework! ?? Results-Based Accountability is a way of thinking and acting that uses data-driven, decision-making processes to assist organizations and communities to take action to solving issues rather than only discussing the issues at hand. This method of thinking also allows for an opportunity to assign responsibility within the cause. Learn more about the Results-Based Accountability here: https://lnkd.in/gNcpjyT5 Evaluate everything and anything (within reason!)?????? SisterWeb has 101 ways of measuring performance, from client satisfaction to staff emotional well-being. It is important to have these very specific measurements as it can be crucial to the improvement of the organization. Revisit and modify your evaluation tools. ?? Quality over quantity is very important when conducting an evaluation. SisterWeb makes sure to review the measures to ensure that they are reliable for use. It is important that any measure is routinely reviewed. Here are some questions to think through when reviewing these measures: What is it measuring? Why are we measuring it? What changes need to be made? Clean up your data!?? Ensure all data collection by staff is correct and accurate. This continuous process helps organizations tackle larger issues within maternal health. Use qualitative methods to tell the story behind your quantitative?? data. In other words, look beyond the numbers and get curious about what our clients, communities, or staff are saying. Read Regina's full blog here: https://lnkd.in/gCEtewdR

What is the CDI??? It stands for the Champion Dyad Initiative! This is a program that gets feedback from health professionals and doulas to help improve the care and treatment of Black and Brown pregnant patients. Led by SisterWeb, the CDI has been able to strengthen communities and take us one step closer to ensuring justice for doulas and birthing families in San Francisco. Why was it created?????To help take another step towards justice in the health care system for pregnant and birthing people. Doulas and the support they provide have been gaining more attention due to their positive impact on clients' pregnancy-related health care experiences. Core Components?? Champion dyads (representatives from SisterWeb, four hospitals, and a birth center); community building activities, such as hospital and birth center tours; referrals; communication and bidirectional feedback; and professional development opportunities for SisterWeb Community Doulas. What are the Champion Dyads??? They are the individuals who focus on preparing clinical staff and SisterWeb staff to work together! They have monthly meetings where they can foster relationships using open communication. They are all superstars?? as they volunteer their time in order to make an impact! Unique Challenges?? Documentation; referrals; capacity; funding; and institutional support. Conclusion?? For doulas to most effectively serve clients in clinical settings, health systems must welcome doulas and understand and support their work. The CDI is a unique and promising model of collaboration and relationship-building between doulas, hospital leaders, and clinical staff. Next steps?? Examining whether the CDI has led to systems-level changes, such as shifts in clinical policy and protocols. ??Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gB4dG_xn #SisterWeb #healthcarejustice #bayareamamas #impact #ReproductiveJustice #BirthJustice #BirthEquity
