Every day, but especially during Black History Month, let’s uplift the power of healing over punishment. Black women and trans folks of all genders deserve access to care, support, and transformative justice – not systems that criminalize our survival. We honor the legacy of those who fought for liberation and are leading the work of creating spaces where healing is prioritized and embraced. #BlackHistoryMonth

? Freedom 2030 is a ten-year campaign led by formerly incarcerated and systems-impacted women, young women, and trans people of all genders to replace violent systems with a deep investment in our communities, keep our families together, and end prison system profits and extreme sentencing. The realization of this vision will end the mass incarceration and criminalization of communities of color and create a concrete pathway to collective well-being and prosperity. vs. ? Project 2025 would strip away protections and resources that our communities depend on to survive and thrive, and make it even harder for us to hold systems of oppression accountable. It is aimed at dismantling crucial systems - like regulatory oversight, social safety nets, healthcare, civil rights protections, and environmental laws. It is a direct threat to the communities we fight for every day and we should employ all our resources to stand sternly against its implementation. #Freedom2030 #Project2025 #sisterwarriors

Another one! ?? Sister Warriors Executive Director, Amika Mota, spoke with The Rolling Stone about the dangers that incarcerated firefighters faces in doing their critical and life-saving work. Both incarcerated adults and youth are sent to the front lines, risking their lives to ensure the safety of the communities they serve. But they do so for extraordinarily low pay. Drawing from her personal experience as an incarcerated firefighter, Amika addresses the use of prison labor - what it means to incarcerated folks to be able to show up in this heroic way, and what it would me to be compensated fairly for this labor. ?? Protect Your Rights, Protect Your People ?? We want to send a clear message to our communities: ICE is active and targeting our families, our neighbors, and our people. The threat is real and we must be prepared to stand together. ?? Know Your Rights: You do not have to answer any questions about your status. ? Don’t engage without legal support: If detained, ask for a lawyer immediately and do not sign anything without legal counsel. ? Build community solidarity: Share resources. Look out for each other. Tap into networks of support if they’re available to you. The fight for justice is ongoing. May we all be safe and continue to organize to #StopICE and #EndDeportations.

Our team is taking a break! ? From December 23rd to January 5th, our team will take a moment to rest, recharge, and reflect on the past year. This is the time for all of us to reset, so we can come back stronger and refreshed. Rest is not a pause in our work but its vital continuation. It is how we heal and create space to imagine a world that is radically different from this one. It is our reverence to nature and the way of the warriors: stepping away in tune with the season to tend to ourselves and our loved ones. We hope you all also take some time to rest and rejuvenate. We can’t wait to fight along with you in 2025. Until then, take care of yourself and enjoy the season of rest, beloved Sister Warrior.?
