Both 988 and 911 provide critical support but focus on different crisis types: the #988Lifeline specializes in #mentalhealth, suicide, and problematic substance use support, while 911 addresses physical dangers needing police, fire, or EMS.

Sisters Taking On the Prevention of Suicide (STOPS) was founded in May 2015 by Andrea Mustin, a wife whose former husband, Eric D. Wright, lived with bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and anxiety. The man who was her soul mate of 20 years died by suicide on December 2, 2013, and she didn’t see it coming. Who We Are For women who have friends and/or loved ones living with a mental illness, Sisters Taking On the Prevention of Suicide (STOPS) is a mental health awareness organization that inspires and gives hope through Education, Resources, Inspiration (Advocacy), and Community – through E.R.I.C. Our vision is to create a world that is knowledgeable, compassionate, and supportive of all persons living with mental illnesses and thus put a stop to suicide. Our mission is to reduce suicide rates by delivering mental health awareness training and support to women who have friends and/or loved ones living with a mental illness. By December 2, 2024, our goal is to build an empowered sisterhood of more than one million informed, engaged, and connected women who will act as Mental Health Champions and commit to fighting the battle against suicide.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will continue substance use and mental health programs vital to the safety and protection of Americans. This includes programs that provide critical behavioral health resources in the event of a natural or human-caused disaster such as Disaster Behavioral Health response teams, the 24/7 365 day-a-year Disaster Distress Helpline that provides crisis counseling to people experiencing emotional distress after a disaster, and the 988/Suicide Lifeline to connect people in crisis with life-saving resources. https://lnkd.in/eUFtthfK
