Do you know about this new #CircularSpace in Oslo, called Nydalen Fabrikker? Did you know that you can find there circular timber construction solutions from SirkTRE partners Norsk Massivtre AS, Grape Architects and Omtre? The premises in which Nydalen factories are located have been a factory for almost 150 years. Nydalen Fabrikker has its origins in Vollebekk Fabrikker (2018-2022), which was a cross-sectoral urban development project with an incubator for businesses working in the circular economy, social entrepreneurship and neighbourhood development. They are looking for more circular and/or social businesses. Follow Omtre, Nydalen Fabrikker, Grape Architects, Norsk Massivtre AS and SirkTRE to learn more about circular economy in practice (consumption and construction). WoodStock’s first co-creation activity is piloted!??? ?? Today 13 students of Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) are exploring how to make underutilised wood surfaces more sustainable and attractive. They will design self-supporting, 1x1 meter surfaces that highlight the beauty of wood. The workshop starts with insights from a survey on how people across Europe perceive wooden surfaces made from post-consumer, damaged, or leftover wood.? ?? Why are we often mentioning this 8% (of the Paris targets) in the introduction slides of our Sirktre project? You might read the answer in a conference paper to be presented during the World Conference of Timber Engineering 2025, where we explain the simplified calculation tool that we used to estimate the impact before the project started. However, it is a simplified calculation tool, and we are very aware of all the limits and problems around this method. We are approaching the end of the Sirktre project. In the background, we are doing some LCA at product and building level calculations of circular and linear solutions, asking various Sirktre partners for their LCA data, do some scenario setting for 2030, and understanding if this 8% is feasible (and in which scenario). And we have been using this article as one of the big references how to categorize the Sirktre solutions and pilots. Therefore, we are not surprised that this paper got an award ??.

I am thrilled to share that we have launched a world-first Geospatial Map for timber resources! ?? https://lnkd.in/ggpmJCJc We believe this tool has the potential to be a game changer for timber circularity—not just in Australia, but globally. By providing insights into the quantity, location, logistics, regulations, and characteristics of timber resources, this map lays the foundation for a more efficient and sustainable circular economy.
