Site lighting is the most overlooked feature (right next to proper paving) of Industrial Outdoor Storage (IOS) sites. Proper site lighting is not only an attractive feature for current and future tenants but is also a safety tool for property owners/managers, especially when paired with a robust camera surveillance system. I can tell you from my personal experience as both an owner of a trucking company and the owner of IOS sites that site lighting has helped prevent numerous incidents. Here’s a video I took of my IOS site at 6 Fondi Rd in Haverhill, MA. When creating the site plan, truthfully I thought we were overdoing it with the site lighting but it’s for this reason that we are 100% leased out with zero on-site accidents and have remained that way for years.
