Came across some old photos and couldn’t help but reminisce about this exciting project. Back in 2017, construction was completed on the 41st Street pedestrian bridge in Chicago—a project Singh & Associates was proud to lead the lighting design for. This project wasn’t just about illuminating a structure; it was about enhancing the experience for everyone who uses the bridge, making it safer, more functional, and visually striking. We integrated LED handrail lighting into the bridge, carefully routing power wiring into the structure to maintain a clean aesthetic. The low-voltage LED drivers were also concealed within the railing system, ensuring they were accessible for maintenance without disrupting the bridge’s sleek design. Coordinating these elements with the structural and handrail systems was both a challenge and a rewarding experience. The final result is a beautifully illuminated bridge that enhances both safety and the architectural beauty of this urban landmark. We are excited to welcome Matthew Cowap to the SINGH family! Matthew has joined our Transportation Team as a Civil Engineer at SINGH’s Chicago Headquarters. He holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and brings a passion for innovative transportation solutions. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys restoring old hand tools to working order and is an avid collector of fountain pens. Originally from Florida, he’s a proud dad of three children – ages 15, 14, and 13 – who keep him on his toes! Matthew looks forward to working with our talented team of traffic engineers and broadening his expertise in roadway and traffic signal design across various states and local projects.
