???Career-connected learning is mutually beneficial to learners, workers and employers, writes the Charles Koch Foundation. But what does career-connected learning really mean? It’s more than a single annual career fair or just asking students what they want to be when they grow up. ?? Catalyze, one of the nation’s largest communities of practice focused on career-connected learning, defines it as “a catalyst that can prepare learners to thrive in the modern world of work — first, by bridging the gap between student interest and industry need, and second, by introducing young people to fulfilling pathways that connect passion to career success.” Read the full piece at the link in the comments. ?? #careerconnectedlearning #k12education #careereducation #professionaldevelopment

?? “Rapid adoption means that the demand for AI skills is not just confined to tech companies, but is expanding into fields like healthcare, finance and manufacturing. It's a reminder that AI readiness is becoming a fundamental requirement across the board," said Alex Swartsel, managing director of Jobs for the Future (JFF)'s Center for AI and the Future of Work. In the most recent episode of Work Shift’s The Cusp podcast, Alex; Tiffany Hsieh, director of innovation programs at JFF; and Lydia Logan, vice president of global education and workforce development at IBM discussed the current and future state of AI skills and readiness with Paul Fain. ?? Some of our favorite insights include: — While technical skills are essential, durable skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and adaptability, are essential in the AI era. They enable workers to navigate and adapt to the changing work landscape. — There are two major challenges facing AI education: updating curriculum to keep up with the rapid pace of AI advancements and ensuring AI education reaches historically underserved groups. — To help learners and earners succeed, employers and educators need to foster robust support systems, including mentorship, financial support and real-world project experiences. ?? #ai #artificialintelligence #wkdev #aieducation
