    I’m reflecting on an incredible evening last week sharing insights with an amazing group of women at FENIX. It was an honor to discuss tackling burnout and building resilience—something so essential for leaders, executives, and professionals balancing demanding careers and personal lives. I’m grateful to have been able to share some practical ways to “take a pause” that go beyond quick fixes. Here were a few takeaways for those who were unable to make it to the event: ? Mindful Check-Ins: Set a reminder on your watch every hour. When it goes off, pause for a few breaths and ask yourself, “How am I feeling?” This simple habit builds self-awareness and helps you reconnect with what you need in the moment. ? Calendar Breaks: Schedule short, intentional breaks during your day—even just 5-10 minutes. Giving yourself this space can help you return to tasks with clarity and a refreshed mind. ? 10-Minute Mindfulness Practice: Starting with just a few minutes each day offers a safe space to confront difficult thoughts and emotions, strengthening your resilience for high-stress moments (e.g., back-to-back meetings, deadlines, or tough conversations). It’s inspiring to see more people embracing the importance of well-being in our everyday work and lives, and FENIX is doing some very cool things to support women in their careers. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared their own experiences—it was a powerful reminder of why we need to prioritize these conversations.     What an amazing day with the leadership team at SEPHORA! Our Cultivate Focus & Calm workshop, in partnership with the UCSD Center for Mindfulness, was filled with incredible energy. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share strategies for influencing a more focused, present mindset at work. One highlight was when we role-played having difficult conversations with one another. I was inspired by how everyone embraced the necessity of having direct yet kind conversations. The biggest takeaway was that preparing before having a difficult conversation with a peer, manager, or team member is essential. Conflict is often avoided for fear of hurting someone’s feelings or to avoid our anxiety around having these conversations. The P&P leadership team understood the value of having these conversations to help the team and the organization, and avoiding them causes a lack of trust and psychological safety in companies. I’m thrilled to have been a part of their journey toward a more balanced and effective workplace. When leaders prioritize focus and calm, the entire organization strengthens, and teams thrive.     Last week, I attended a CTO Talks Series discussion on AI and how it’s currently shaping the workplace. Mansoor Bahramand was a speaker on the panel who shared a really interesting insight on how to use AI to create efficiencies, allowing employees to spend more time doing what they love. This really resonated with me—helping people work smarter, not harder, is at the core of Simply Pause. I know that artificial intelligence can feel intimidating, and many are understandably hesitant to integrate it into their teams, but there are benefits to helping employees embrace the change AI brings. Creating efficiency through automation was my secret to being a successful financial executive for nearly three decades. There just isn’t enough time in the day, and you want to make sure your people are focusing on what’s important. This is especially critical now with all the competing priorities in the? average workplace—meetings, emails, digital notifications, and the distractions we face daily. The panel’s response to this topic? It’s about making AI seamless, integrating it into processes so employees hardly notice it’s there—like pressing a button to create efficiency without disrupting their workflow. This reminded me of how critical it is to approach these transitions with empathy and support, helping people see the long-term benefits while respecting their concerns. When I first brought automation to budgeting and forecasting systems 9-15 years ago, my colleagues were hesitant to move away from Excel—fear of the unknown, the discomfort of not being in control of manual tasks. While AI is a powerful tool, we still need human wisdom and experience to solve the challenges AI can’t tackle alone.     How aware are you of your core values? How aligned are your actions with your core values? Core values are the compass of our lives. They guide us in deciding how to spend our attention, time, and money. So great! We have an internal guide toward what brings us value…now what? Resistance happens when we unknowingly take action or accept a mindful perspective that is out of line with our core values. The better we understand our core values, the more we are able to consciously make decisions that align with them. ?? If you’re interested in diving deeper into this I have an actionable plan that gives you strategies for living life by your core values. But here is an example of how this works: You can use tools like the Wise Effort Matrix, developed by Diana Hill, an Acceptance Commitment Therapist. Identifying what your core values are Self-awareness: Be curious about your thoughts and decision patterns. What tasks are burning you out or not worth it because they are activities that deviate from your core values? Acceptance to the moment with self-compassion Pause to choose wise actions that align with your core values- participating in Worth It or Savoring activities- towards your core values. Daily self-compassion practices when your core values conflict with one another or you have made decisions away from your values We all know it is essential to lead and live according to our core values because we see the impacts of what happens when we don’t; however, many of us don’t always know how to do this effectively.
