A team of SimpliSafers recently volunteered at Cradles to Crayons, a Boston area non-profit that provides children in homeless or low-income situations with essential items for home, school and play. It was a fulfilling day of volunteering in service of the community that we live and work in - not to mention some great bonding time with each other outside of the office. As #oneteam we were able to… ?? Pack over 250 outfit packs that will provide a week's worth of clothing each ?? Process over 700 books for children ages 0-12 ?? Assemble 660 school supply kits for different age ranges ?? Donate an entire bin of clothing Thanks to our marketing team for organizing the day. We look forward to volunteering again soon! A huge thank you to our BIPOC ERG and all the incredible volunteers who helped plan and support this year’s Black History Month activities! Your dedication made this month truly impactful. From an educational hair braiding event?with BIPOC ERG Lead?Renetta Scott?and a virtual talent show showcasing creativity within our community, to enjoying treats from local Black-owned businesses - Delectable Desires Pastries (Carlene O'Garro), Clarkes Cakes and Cookies and The Treat Shop donuts (Richmond VA) - there was something for everyone to engage with and celebrate. One of the most powerful moments was hearing from our senior Black leaders at SimpliSafe. Their candid discussion on career growth and navigating corporate spaces provided invaluable insight and inspiration. SimpliSafe's monitoring center is officially certified by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL)?for Alarm Validation Scoring Standard (AVS-01)! The AVS-01 Standard is the result of a groundbreaking collaboration between The Monitoring Association (TMA), UL Solutions, public safety professionals and other key stakeholders within the alarm monitoring industry. It aims to create a standardized approach to alarm notifications to better inform first responders of emergencies. The adoption of AVS-01 underscores our ongoing commitment to industry best practices and operational excellence. With this achievement, we are better keeping our customers safe and furthering our mission to 'make every home secure.' Congratulations to our monitoring team!?

The panel will dive into how standards support technology innovation by fostering consumer trust and driving market competition. The topic is particularly important to SimpliSafe. We're dedicated to creating a safer world, and that can only be done by remaining close to ever-evolving technology regulations. We feel very fortunate to have a dedicated team with Rebecca at the helm, ensuring we create the best security products for our customers. Refresh Alert!??? If you've walked through Downtown Crossing recently, you may have noticed our new addition to the 100 Summer Street building. We're incredibly proud to be a Boston-based company. It's where the idea of SimpliSafe was first born and the company continues to grow and thrive today. This new SimpliSafe display right in the heart of Downtown Boston not only reminds us of how far we've come as a company but also reminds all those passing by that great technology and innovation are right in their backyards.?

This holiday season, Richmond members of our Caregivers and Women in Tech (WIT) ERGs partnered with Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center to give back and support the center's mission of feeding those in need and empowering individuals to overcome the root causes of food insecurity. Thanks to the generosity of our Cox Road and Willow Lawn locations, we donated nearly 500 lbs of food to families and individuals in need. We couldn't be more amazed by our employees' willingness to give back and make a difference in the community! Thank you to all who participated, and a special thank you to Sarah Lewis and Nekeeia Brooks, our Caregivers and WIT ERG leaders, for organizing and dropping off the donations.?

Last week, a group of SimpliSafe women attended the Massachusetts Conference for Women to participate in workshops on the issues that matter most to women, including personal finance, business and entrepreneurship, health, work/life balance and more. The group also had the opportunity to listen to dozens of female business leaders, experts and activists, including Opray Winfrey, Padma Lakshmi, Caitlin Clark, Sarah Blakely and Robin Roberts, to name a few. A huge shout-out is in order for our Women in Tech (WIT) ERG for coordinating our attendance at the event and offering complementary tickets to interested SimpliSafers - an embodiment of our “lift as we climb” value.?

Back by popular demand, SimpliSafe hosted its Second Annual Mario Kart Grand Prix -- this year, with more competitors, hype, and energy than ever before! ?? ?? Over the last few weeks, SimpliSafers gathered in our Boston HQ to show off their Mario Kart skills and cheer on their peers. After three rounds of competition, Michael Riina was deemed our champion for the second year in a row. Congratulations, Michael! And a huge thank you to Victoria Smith and Chris Kelleher for organizing the event.

Last week, our Senior IP counsel,?David Soucy,?served as an expert panelist for the Boston Chapter of the?Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc., entitled "Building, Licensing, and Commercializing an AI IP Portfolio." Dave was joined by Jennifer Burdman of Sauvegarder Investment Management and Gideon Myles of OpenAI. Moderated by Scott Forman of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, the panel discussed business strategies for commercializing and licensing AI innovations, building an IP portfolio that supports those strategies, and key terms to address in licensing negotiations from both the licensor and licensee perspective. These topics have grown increasingly important at SimpliSafe as we scale our offerings to encompass AI technology that better serves our customers and proactively enhances their safety. We're proud to have Dave on our team, who is helping us forge forward in our mission of making every home secure, as well as sharing his knowledge with those who are looking to grow their AI IP portfolios.?
