Corporate CPR Jukebox Highlight: TRC Insights Simon’s Heart had an amazing time at TRC in Fort Washington, educating their staff on sudden cardiac arrest and how to respond in an emergency. With both in-person and virtual participants, everyone got hands-on with Hands-Only CPR and asked great questions! One staff member even committed to ensuring an AED is in their office—because every second counts in saving a life. Thank you, TRC, for being heart smart and ready to take action! ???? #CPRJukebox #HandsOnlyCPR #AEDsSaveLives #BeTheBeat #SimonsHeart TRC Insights
关于我们
Simon's Heart was founded in 2005 in memory of Simon Sudman. He was three month's old when he died. The family was encouraged to get their hearts checked because "babies just don't die." Phyllis, Simon's mom, was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome, an arrhythmia that is linked to up to 15% of all SIDS deaths. It is also one of several conditions that take the lives of thousands of children every year. Sudden cardiac arrest is not just an adult thing. It is the #1 cause of death of student athletes. Simon's Heart prevents sudden cardiac arrest through a variety of preventative, protective and legislative lifesaving initiatives.

How does March Madness tie in with SCA? ?? ?? Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in student-athletes, yet it remains an under-discussed issue in sports. Research shows that Black male Division 1 basketball players face the highest risk—1 in 2,000. Tonight, Tyon Grant-Foster will take the court for Grand Canyon University against Maryland in the NCAA tournament. In 2021, he suffered Sudden Cardiac Arrest and fought his way back to the game he loves. His story is inspiring, but it also raises an important question: Are we doing enough to protect athletes from SCA? Access to CPR training, AEDs, and heart screenings can mean the difference between life and death. As we watch March Madness unfold, let’s also focus on making sports safer for every athlete. #SuddenCardiacArrest #MarchMadness #CPRSavesLives #CPRJukebox #GotAED #SimonsHeart

For the past 20 years, Simon’s Heart has been fueled by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to protecting young hearts. On February 22nd, at Simon's Soiree, we celebrated not just a milestone, but the incredible community that has carried us here—our supporters, sponsors, volunteers, friends, and families who believe in a future where no child is lost to detectable and treatable heart conditions. During Soirée, we reflected on the incredible impact of this community—the catalysts driving change, the sponsors whose generosity fuels our work, and the families whose stories inspire action. Every heartbeat protected, every life saved, is because of you. From the bottom of our hearts—thank you. Here’s to the next 20 years of making a difference, together. We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Simon's Heart on Project AED365! From February 23rd through March 14th, Simon’s Heart will generously take on 20 Project AED365 donations to donate across the United States. Simon’s Heart, celebrating its 20th year, raises awareness about conditions that lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death. They support their mission through their Heart Screening program, their GOTAED program that places AEDs in locations where children learn and play, education, advocacy, and more. Each Project AED365 donation package includes one ZOLL AED 3 (ZOLL Public Safety), three years of AED365 Pro Program Management, one seat for HSI: Emergency Care’s Remote Skills Verification (RSV) training, and one LifeVac choking rescue device. Together with Simon’s Heart, we’re equipping communities with the tools and skills to save lives effectively. #ProjectAED365 #AnAEDADay #SimonsHeart #CoroMed #PartnershipAnnouncement

Change ain't easy—especially when it means saying goodbye to someone who has poured so much of herself into our cause. I met Jennifer Parrado at an event hosted by Life Sciences Pennsylvania. We stayed in touch, and a few months later, she applied for the role of Executive Director at Simon's Heart. It was a big moment. I was stepping down and handing the reins to someone else. For the first time, Simon’s Heart would be led by a new executive. Jenn stepped into the role with confidence and determination. She embraced our mission, led her team with care, connected with stakeholders, and managed the unique challenge of stepping into a leadership role previously held by the founder. We had a deal. We agreed to assume positive intent, and commit to prioritizing intent over impact. It wasn't always easy. When the two didn’t align, we talked about it. Not many people could have handled this exciting and delicate dance - Jenn nailed it. Over the past 4+ years, under Jenn’s leadership, Simon's Heart distributed more AED devices, engaged more students in our work, and introduced more people to the CPR Jukebox. She helped move our mission forward in meaningful ways. As we prepare for this next chapter, our board will embark on a strategic planning process. It'll review our initiatives, assess our impact, and challenge ourselves with big questions like: ?? What problems are we trying to solve? ?? How is Simon’s Heart uniquely positioned to solve it? Through this process, we’ll refine our priorities, set a course for the future and find the next leader to drive the vision forward. I am incredibly grateful to Jenn for leading Simon's Heart, and proving to us all that this organization is sustainable - built to last. I wish her all the best in her new role at . . . . I know . . . . you'll have to wait for her announcement ??. jennaphr frederick is receiving a Catalyst Award at the Simon's Heart 20th Anniversary Soiree in five days. Philadelphians knows her as the reporter on Fox 29 Philadelphia, WTXF who does the fun and crazy interviews. They don't know she's made a tremendous impact on our trajectory and the lives of student athletes in Pennsylvania. Jenn covered stories on us, served as MC at a gala, and appeared in our Heartsavers music video! She knew we were headed to Harrisburg to pitch the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act to twelve lawmakers. We had an appointment with Representative Mike Vereb and Jenn called him. You HAVE TO meet with the Sudmans. He did. Went well. Fourteen months later, the bill was signed into law. The following year, 250,000 student athletes, their parents and coaches were learning about the risks and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest. Eighteen other states have followed suit. Jenn's actions not only changed the trajectory of our organization, but the lives of all those students! For this, we are eternally grateful. Join us on February 22, in person or online, to celebrate these catalysts and 20 years of impact.
