Kevin Schwesinger: Appreciate the warm welcome you gave our newest members. Mark Beatty: It was great to finally meet you in person! Thanks for capturing cool pictures of our session. Big round of applause to Steven Swan and Christine Cronin for an interesting and productive discussion on strategies to help effectively engage with recruiters and enhance the job search process. Thank you! Here are my top five takeaways: 1] Never stop networking. Make new connections and stay in touch. 2] Ask questions at every step of the interview process. Examples: goals, priorities, current pain points, etc. 3] When appropriate, use the "Situation - Task - Action - Results" (STAR) methodology for behavioral interviews. 4] Research the target company. Join their talent community and subscribe to job alerts. 5] Create a spreadsheet to keep track of your job search. Enter the company, position, interview details, etc. ?? Recommendation: "The Ideal Team Player" by Patrick M. Lencioni As someone who has worked in different industries, I'm always interested in expert advice to help folks make such transitions. We discussed the idea of highlighting the right projects on your resume to showcase transferable skills, upskilling in new technologies and being open to consulting opportunities. Rick Diana: Great points about knowing your customer's customer. As technologists, we need to understand the business to solve problems effectively and drive innovation. This was my first monthly meeting as a member, and I'm excited to be part of this collaborative community.
