Erich Spangenberg’s soon-to-be-public SIM IP buys #patent portfolio worth hundreds of millions in haptics and extended reality (XR) from Ultraleap This U.S.-UK company resulted from the merger of two startups. Venture capital and private equity investors had put in hundreds of millions of dollars. Ultraleap's hand-tracking technology has been compared to the Minority Report movie with Tom Cruise. There were rumors a few months ago of that patent portfolio being on the market and of a Big Tech company (potentially Apple) bidding hundreds of millions of dollars. How the team around Erich Spangenberg and Colin Bristow, M.D. managed to outbid a Big Tech rival would be interesting to know, but apparently that's what happened. We found an announcement from early November that relates to IPO preparations by SIM IP. It may not take long now until SIM's shares are publicly traded.
