Introducing the Semiconductor Industry Mobile Education Unit, or SIMEU. SIMEU is a non-profit organization working on growing, educating, and recruiting the next generation for the semiconductor industry. SIMEU will be promoting this mission across the country by creating a mobile, traveling exposition and educational experience. This mobile unit will be a custom-made, 53-foot-long semi-trailer that expands to 1,000 square feet of climate-controlled interior space. Crafted by Kentucky Trailer, and modeled after other successful awareness campaigns, SIMEU has the potential to reach 700 students and visitors, per day. Through adaptable curriculums and exhibits for youth and adults, SIMEU will be able to educate and engage the next workforce through a unique, hands-on immersive experience.

10 NEW YORK SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO IMPLEMENT SEMICONDUCTOR CURRICULA Watertown City School District is among ten statewide participants in a groundbreaking pilot program fostering careers in the booming semiconductor industry. In collaboration with key stakeholders like the American Federation of Teachers, New York State United Teachers, United Federation of Teachers, Micron, and Governor Kathleen C. Hochul, the initiative aligns with Micron's $100 billion investment in a memory manufacturing megafab operation near Syracuse, set to be the largest in the U.S. and generate thousands of jobs. Governor Hochul unveiled the program during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Syracuse Science, Technology, Arts, and Math High School. The three-year pilot, starting in fall 2024, involves ten school districts and BOCES, integrating industry-focused career work into the curriculum to prepare students for high-tech careers. Micron Executive Vice President April Arnzen emphasized educators' role in creating a technologically proficient workforce. The program, developed with input from educators and industry experts, focuses on foundational and technical skills in the semiconductor sector, aiming to bridge the gap between education and industry needs. Participating districts include Baldwinsville, Chittenango, East Syracuse Minoa, Liverpool, New York City (Brooklyn STEAM Center and Thomas Edison High School), Niagara Falls, North Syracuse, Syracuse, and Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES. Micron and New York jointly contribute $4 million. Watertown City School District sees the initiative as enriching educational opportunities and positioning New York as a national leader in preparing students for semiconductor careers. The program's success relies on empowering teachers to inspire diverse students to explore STEM education and pursue high-tech careers.
