With heavy hearts, we share the sad news that Julie Dietz passed away yesterday. Julie was an exceptionally well-respected colleague and mentor whose positive energy and infectious smile inspired us. Julie brought laughter and joy to everyone around her. Her presence, in our company and in the world, will be deeply missed.

Congratulations to our client, Edwards Companies, who was awarded $33 million in Ohio TMUD tax credits yesterday for their $377M Capitol Square Renaissance project in downtown Columbus. The mixed-use project will transform the Capitol Square region through construction or redevelopment of five buildings and create unique park space in the form of an open-air elevated walkway. Silverlode is proud to have provided economic impact analyses to support our client’s application.  

Silverlode is pleased to have worked with CU Innovations, which coordinates technology commercialization for the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, to measure the tremendous economic impact supported by their activities during 2023.

We’ve recently assisted our parent company GBX Group LLC in securing Brownfield Remediation grant funding for two of its current properties for a combined $1.8 million in grant funding from the State of Ohio. Ohio Department of Development Brownfield Remediation Program assists projects with environmental cleanup such as removing asbestos and lead-based paint. This is an important step towards bringing buildings into the 21st century, while preserving their historic character.   The FY 2025 funding round will be starting very soon with funding available on a first come, first served basis. We are thrilled to have co-hosted a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) lunch event at our office along with Quantitax IC-DISC Services, Invoke Tax Partners, and our parent company GBX Group LLC. Dennis McAndrew presented information on discretionary and negotiated economic and tax incentives to the many CPAs and financial professionals in attendance.

It’s with mixed emotions that we share some significant news: Julie Dietz is retiring! While we are thrilled for her as she begins this exciting new chapter, we also feel a profound sense of bittersweetness as we prepare to say goodbye to someone who has been more than just a phenomenal leader, colleague, and friend, but also a radiant source of positivity and inspiration in our lives. Throughout her career, Julie has been a cornerstone of our team, sharing her vast knowledge of credits and incentives with grace and wisdom. She’s mentored each of us with her remarkable insights and infectious enthusiasm, leaving a lasting impact on our professional growth. Her laughter has filled our offices, conferences, and video calls, bringing joy and light to even the busiest and most challenging days. Her unwavering support and encouragement have touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have crossed her path. As Julie embarks on this new journey with her husband, Marc, and her wonderful family, her daughters Gwen (and David), Courtney (and Kyle), and Meredith (and Josh), along with her adorable grandsons, Teddy, Ari, and Ollie, we invite you to join us in celebrating her incredible legacy. Julie, you’ve not only brightened our days but have inspired us all in more ways than you know. Here’s to an extraordinary woman whose kindness, wisdom, and laughter will continue to resonate with us for years to come. Cheers to your next adventure, Julie! You’ve made a lasting impact on our lives, and we wish you nothing but happiness in the years ahead.
