Meet Kendra Scace-Alber, our South Hill Safety Manager at Silverback Concrete. As our safety manager, Kendra ensures that our commercial / industrial teams are operating safely and in compliance with regulations and safety mandates. She also creates and maintains safety programs and trains our employees on safety procedures. On the day to day Kendra is overseeing the field crew to ensure they are complying with safety rules, meeting with GCs to discuss upcoming hazards within the following weeks and does internal weekly reporting, all while working consistently with project management to improve safety. On her off time from Silverback, she is a mother of two and the secretary of the Brodnax Volunteer Fire Department. Happy New Year everybody! Silverback Concrete recently acquired Peppers Concrete Pumping in Nashville, Tennessee. We started pouring concrete on day 1, but our plan doesn’t stop there. Over the next few months, we will be bringing a concrete batch plant and a turnkey concrete team to start chasing small commercial/residential work! We’re excited about what this year has to offer!

Meet Noah, a Senior PM & Estimator at Silverback and the latest in a long line of Auburn alums to join our team. If you’ve seen these teammate spotlights in the past, you’ve probably noticed a trend where friends recruit friends to work at the friendliest concrete firm in the Southeast. Noah fits that pattern to a T. “Tyler and I built a strong friendship during our Auburn days and have stayed in touch ever since. Earlier this year, he called me to ask if I’d like to leave the GC I worked for at the time and take on a senior-level management and estimating role at Silverback. The timing was just right. I was ready to try my hand at something new, and my wife’s company allowed her to work remotely. We had good friends waiting to receive us in Gainesville, and the decision to move here from Nashville was easy. At Silverback, I get to experience a variety of projects within the focused niche of concrete. Everything from massive data centers, hospitals and warehouses to apartment complexes and homes. We take a personal approach to business development at Silverback. It starts with curiosity about other people, knowing how to read them and listening more than talking. I enjoy learning, over lunch or a few rounds of golf, what their work looks like and the challenges they face in their businesses. Practically, that allows me to avoid assumptions and propose concrete solutions that are on point with zero fluff. I see our core value of Authenticity daily in how the company operates. AqueoUS Vets (AV) is a nationwide water and wastewater treatment company. They create delivery and treatment systems for all levels of government as well as private businesses. When it came time to demo and replace the concrete in several of their Jacksonville warehouses, AV turned to Silverback’s heavy-concrete specialists. We recently wrapped the first two stages in this five-phase project. First, we demolished and hauled away the existing asphalt and limestone. We then built new equipment pits, stem walls and heavy-duty 8" reinforced SOG foundations. We’re grateful for AV’s trust and look forward to a finished project that exceeds their expectations.
