The power of branding in action. This weekend, we did some Christmas shopping at the American Dream Mall. The crowds were bustling, but most people including us, carried plain, unremarkable brown shopping bags. Except for one. Something interesting happened: a stranger approached me to ask where Toys “R” Us was. I gave directions, we exchanged happy holiday wishes, and went on our way. A little later, someone else asked. By the end of the day, four people had stopped me to ask where the store was. Two of which hadn’t even planned to go there—but seeing my branded Toys “R” Us bag reminded them they needed something. It’s a great reminder that every touchpoint of branding matters. Even something as simple as a shopping bag drives awareness, sparks conversations, and of course, can add to your sales.
