In February we hosted our annual leadership conference, where Silverado leaders from our hospice, memory care and home office branches meet to train, strategize, renew focus, celebrate and recognize. As is part of the conference every year, the final night of the conference was a dinner and awards ceremony to mark the standout individuals and teams who exemplify Silverado’s values of compassion and integrity. So proud of our dedicated teams for stepping up during this crisis. Thanks to all of our associates for their work directly and indirectly supporting our residents and keeping them safe during the unparalleled challenges of the past week.
Like the majority of Los Angeles, this week brought its share of challenges and emotions as our community faced the Palisades Fire and an unexpected evacuation. Moving all our residents, equipment, and their personal belongings to a sister community was no small task, but it also brought incredible moments of teamwork, resilience, and care that I’ll never forget. As I reflect on the past few days of this experience, I think it’s important to step back and reflect while you’re still “in the trenches” and there are 3 things stand out to me the most: 1. The unwavering dedication of my team. Watching our CNAs, caregivers, and nurses rise to the occasion was truly inspiring. Despite being personally impacted by the fires—some driving over an hour each day—every team member showed up with a smile, putting the safety and comfort of our residents above all else. Their selflessness, strength, and heart are beyond words. I am honored and deeply proud to be a servant leader to such an extraordinary group of people. 3. The incredible kindness of our sister community. The team at our sister community, led by the incredible Stephanie Brynjolfson welcomed us with open arms and hearts, creating a safe and comforting space during a time of great uncertainty. Their hospitality and willingness to adjust their routines to accommodate us demonstrated the true meaning of community. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and support. 2. The support of an exceptional organization. At every level, our organization has stood beside us. From receptionists to the executive team, the support was constant and genuine. Our CEO, owner, and chairman Loren Shook checked in daily, offering guidance and encouragement along with our Regional Director of Operations Taylor Giunto, MSG, CDAL, CPG, CDP and Regional Nurse Specialists Jean De Guzman and Laken Lacy. Knowing we’re part of an organization that places the well-being of residents and associates as its top priority is both humbling and uplifting. This experience has been a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose and compassion. I’m grateful to be part of a company that embodies these values and to work with a team whose dedication shines brightest in difficult times. #silveradostrong
