We couldn't be prouder of the Gateway Strikers team at our sister community GateWay at River City for their amazing team win! ??
Last week, our very own Gateway Strikers Wii Bowling team participated in the AFFORDABLE ASSISTED LIVING COALITION’s annual Wii Bowling World Series competition and were awarded first place! ?? We are so proud of our Strikers and all it took to achieve this amazing win. Gateway at River City’s Resident Service Coordinator, Kelsey Shirey, reflected on the team’s incredible determination and hard work leading to the victory, saying “These guys have wanted to defend their title after coming in 2nd?last year, so it was a real treat to make it to the finals as well as being able to compete against the team that took 1st?last year. They practiced nearly daily to prepare for the finals as well as throughout the time of the entire competition”. ?? To win the title, the team competed against other AALC resident contenders over 4 months playing weekly games and submitting their top 3 scores. The Strikers practiced near daily before every match to give them the best chance of success. They even host a yearly bowling league among their fellow residents to keep their skills sharp – talk about dedication to the sport! Team Captain Frank reflected on his team's big win and reception back home saying "Everyone loved it! We also came home to a surprise celebration of staff and residents dropping balloons and cheering as we came in the door afterwards, felt really amazing! It was a great experience took a lot of hard work and practice, but it all paid off.” ??We are so proud of our residents and love seeing such hard work pay off. ?? Go Strikers! ??
