David Sheffels graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Electrical Engineering. An internship led him down the path of IT and his first jobs were with a video game developer and a civil engineering company. He also worked for a couple of years as a farmer on a family farm in Eastern Washington. Dave joined Silvaris for the first time in 2006 as the IT Manager. After about four years he left to join the world of startup companies and spent the next 10 years working in software and later, senior living. In 2020, he returned to the Silvaris fold as our IT Director. He now holds the role of VP of IT and manages both the IT and software engineering teams. Dave still helps with the family farm on occasion and enjoys traveling and tinkering with any new technology that comes his way.

Big Opportunities for Surplus Materials in Washington State Construction and demolition waste makes up nearly 25% of Washington’s waste stream—that’s 1.2 million tons every year. But what if those materials could be put to better use? A recent article from Cascadia Daily highlights how Bellingham and other areas are working to reuse and recycle everything from drywall and lumber to shingles and concrete. It’s a smart approach that keeps valuable materials out of landfills and puts them back into circulation, benefiting contractors, businesses and communities. At Silvaris, we’ve long believed in the value of repurposing Downfall and surplus materials—giving them a second life instead of sending them to landfills. Whether it’s B-Grade lumber, roofing, flooring or siding, we’re proud to be part of the movement to cut down on waste. Check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/gpTrVxUi
