CHOCOA 2025 REWIND?? Happy Highlights, Interesting Insights & Future Forecasts From happy highlights -like farmers seeing fairer prices, to interesting insights on evolving business models and future forecasts shaping the industry’s future, this 2025 Chocoa edition had it all. Silva Cacao was at the heart of it, connecting amazing farmer partners with artisan chocolate makers, exploring bold flavours, and exchanging knowledge that drives change. A happy highlight for us was witnessing how cacao producers -often unheard at many chocolate events, were not only present at Chocoa but also actively participated -joining panels, speaking at side events, and sharing their insights. They were heard, met with genuine interest, and respected for the work they do. And of course, that made us happy -Silva Cacao couldn’t be prouder! A massive shout-out to all our local heroes, with a special thanks to those who joined us at Chocoa: Rodrigo & Brian from Venezuela, Gerald, Edrisa, and the Trias East Africa team from Uganda, Kelly, Arcell, & Chef Laethi from the Philippines, Simran from Tanzania, Ryan from Thailand, and Ellen & Luca from GoGround India! In Uganda’s Bundibugyo district, cocoa and vanilla farmers are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Rising temperatures and deforestation threaten not just their crops but their livelihoods. But there’s hope: a groundbreaking project is turning these challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth. Led by ZOTO, in collaboration with Trias NGO - Global, Silva Cacao, and local partners Semuliki Cooperative Union, Hofokam, Native Group and Bwamba Cooperative Union, this initiative focuses on restoring forest corridors, implementing climate-smart farming techniques, and empowering farmer cooperatives. We had a great time at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris, reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones. It was a few days filled with inspiring conversations, flavourful discoveries, and a shared appreciation for the diversity and creativity of cacao and chocolate. A big thank you to our wonderful partners, booth buddies, friends, and everyone who joined us to share insights and ideas! Among the highlights were Silva Cacao’s Katrien Delaet's keynote presentation - she had the honour of speaking at 'OFF du Chocolat's 'Les Tables Rondes - Chez Plaq' with her keynote 'Le Chocolat - de l’or en plaque'. Another standout was the fascinating archaeological research of Dr. Quirino Olivera in Montegrande, Jaén, Peru, which shows that cacao was cultivated in the Upper Amazonian lands as far back as 5,300 years ago.
