Innovating cooling for high-powered computing systems ???? At #SC24, #theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson spoke with Tim Shedd, engineering technologist at Dell Technologies, about tackling the challenges of cooling cutting-edge systems while maintaining flexibility for diverse customers. “The challenge is to balance the high power, which requires really innovative cooling, with the configurability and flexibility that we know our customers need … We’re growing the amount of the computer that is liquid-cooled, but we have to leave some part open to air so that we can quickly service it and allow the customer to [make changes],” Shedd said. “We’re not just innovating in liquid cooling, we have to innovate on air cooling too, and that means rethinking …. We don’t want more fans in there, we don’t want more noise. How can we use the air that’s flowing through there now? Setting new benchmarks for EDA workloads ??Now on-demand at theCUBE.net Unpacking #MSIgnite with theCUBE Research’s Rob Strechay, Phil Curran, cloud strategist at WEKA, highlights their new spec benchmark, showcasing groundbreaking performance for EDA workloads in Azure. “We released a new spec benchmark focused in this case on EDA workloads for Weka running in Azure, and we were able to demonstrate, running natively in Azure, a level of performance for EDA workloads that is two times faster than any other benchmark that’s in spec, on-prem or in the cloud.” “That benchmark was actually over 7,000 jobs running at sub-millisecond latency, so massively scalable and incredibly highly performant. The ability to deliver that massive performance in the cloud, but deliver line rate on-prem performance is kind of an amazing feat, and the main reason customers turn to Weka for their high performance workloads in Azure.” ??
