We share the disappointing news that the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) has decided to withdraw the $20 billion general obligation bond measure for affordable housing from the November 5th ballot. The postponement of the proposed BAHFA bond marks a significant setback in our collective efforts to bring more affordable housing to our communities. Research consistently shows that creating affordable homes is the most effective way to prevent homelessness. Despite this unfortunate delay, we remain hopeful that the Bay Area will embrace the next version of this measure, acting on our shared commitment of compassion and care for those who need it most.
