SIL is a global, faith-based nonprofit that works with local communities around the world to develop language solutions that expand their possibilities for a better life. As of 2023, we are involved in approximately 1,420 active language projects in 105 countries. These projects impact more than 855 million people. SIL’s work brings together more than 4,340 staff from 87 countries who work alongside thousands more local partners and community volunteers worldwide. Our services are available without regard to religious belief, political ideology, gender, race or ethnic background. Our Vision: We long to see people flourishing in community using the languages they value most. Our Mission: Inspired by God’s love, we advocate, build capacity, and work with local communities to apply language expertise that advances meaningful development, education, and engagement with Scripture.

Dr. Michel Kenmogne visited the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands ahead of the #IDIL event on Friday to congratulate him on the Solomon Island’s efforts to promote vernacular languages in education. In honor of Dr. Kenmogne’s first visit to his nation, the Prime Minister presented him with a neck tie featuring the colors of the Solomon Island flag. ???? #IDILSolomonIslands

SIL Executive Director Dr. Michel Kenmogne visited Hon. Matthew Wale, a member of the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands, ahead of Friday’s #IDIL event. Both men are strong proponents of Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE). During their time together, Michel also visited the National Bible Display. Inside the ceremonial canoe rests a copy of each New Testament completed in a Solomon Island language. #IDILSolomonIslands
