Yesterday, Siili had the honor of hosting the Microsoft Security User Group Finland's 7th event at our Kamppi office. The event was a tremendous success, featuring insightful presentations—including one from Kimi af Forselles, Cloud Security Architect at Nordcloud, an IBM Company, and our own Marko Jaanu and Juha Karilo, who talked about how AI tools can be leveraged in business: their use cases, benefits, and the challenges of information management. It was great to hear positive feedback from the attendees and MSUG community members. Siili Solutions joins the ELFMo project to help advance AI-powered product development. ELFMo (Engineering Large Foundational Models for Enterprise Integration) is a 2.2M€ international research project led by the University of Helsinki and funded by Business Finland. The project does not focus on creating new AI models but rather on adapting existing foundational models for practical use in software security, home automation, and e-commerce systems. A key challenge is making AI-generated responses more reliable and contextually relevant than generic tools like ChatGPT. As a solution provider, Siili contributes expertise in MLOps, AI governance, and risk management, ensuring scalable, ethical, and enterprise-ready AI adoption. The ELFMo project involves partners from Finland, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal. Finnish participants include Siili Solutions, F-Secure Corporation, Granlund, Nosto Solutions, and Solita. The University of Helsinki leads the initiative. The research is part of ITEA, an international software innovation network, and is expected to continue until September 2027. Happy upcoming International Women’s Day! ?? Exactly two years ago, we conducted a study to understand what helps retain women in the IT industry. While companies have been working to attract more women into tech, the reality is that women leave the field more often than men. The study revealed four key factors helping retain women in IT: ? A zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and harassment ? The ability to be yourself at work ? A healthy work-life balance ? Equal pay, regardless of gender Based on the study, we implemented Siili’s DEI Strategy to ensure that these findings lead to real actions. Our DEI Strategy emphasizes especially psychological safety and inclusive culture to ensure that everyone can be truly themselves at work. Here are some examples of what we’ve done at Siili over the past two years: ? We have conducted employee discrimination and inclusivity surveys, creating action plans to address the key survey findings. With this data, we make sure that we are focusing on the right things. ? Our management has received internal DEI trainings and two inclusive leadership sessions in a cooperation with Inklusiiv & DeiDei. ? We promote safe workplace for example by presenting the Foundations of Belonging guidelines at events and providing anonymous reporting options. Also, harassment contact persons are present at our major events. ? We have updated internal communication guidelines to enhance inclusivity. ? We track diversity data and regularly assess psychological safety. In addition, we support salary transparency, update our equality and non-discrimination plan every two years, and promote workplace flexibility, to name a few. We know there’s still a long way to go, but with concrete actions, we want to build a more equal and inclusive tech industry.
