We recognize and celebrate the dedication of our United Nations representatives who advocate for nurses and the issues that impact healthcare professionals worldwide. Recently, Sigma CEO Lucas M. Davis, M.Ed., CAE, ACC, CNO Sarah E. Gray DNP, RN, CEN, FAEN, and several of our United Nations representatives and Global Advocacy Academy scholars attended the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women. Over a decade ago, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) granted special consultative status to Sigma based on our expertise in the field of nursing and global health, making us one of the few nursing organizations with this status. Nurses play a vital role in protecting and caring for the most vulnerable—and their voices are essential in shaping global health policy for women and all. We are proud to have these leaders representing Sigma and the nursing profession at events that influence the future of healthcare. Thank you for your advocacy and leadership! #CSW69 #GlobalNursingExcellence #NursingLeaders #FutureForward
Representing?Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing?at the?69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW69) at the United Nations in New York was an incredible opportunity to engage in discussions on?gender equity?and?global advocacy. I had the opportunity to attend several impactful sessions at?#CSW69, many of which focused on?advocacy for the protection of women in conflict zones, ending poverty, and advancing gender-responsive health and social systems. These conversations, especially those sharing raw and personal stories of women who fled war, were a powerful reminder of why I do this work—to advocate for dignity, protection, and access to care for the most vulnerable. I had the honor of meeting members of the?Sigma Academy?and reconnecting with my colleagues from the Sigma #GlobalHealth #UN Team CHARLOTTE MCARDLE,?Amy Staley, and?Dr. Jasper Tolarba, RN, CGNC, CNE, FACHE, FFNMRCSI, FAAN It was also a pleasure to finally meet?Lucas M. Davis, M.Ed., CAE, ACC?and?Sarah E. Gray DNP, RN, CEN, FAEN in person! and to exchange perspectives on the vital role of nurses in shaping global health policy and advancing health equity. Looking forward to continuing these conversations and contributing to progress in global health and gender equity. #CSW69 #GlobalHealth #SigmaNursing #UNWomen #GlobalAction

As a nurse, you know that oral health greatly impacts overall health. But barriers to access are a real problem. Sigma has teamed up with Colgate-Palmolive to offer US $10,000 to a nurse who develops an intervention to reduce oral health inequities that could be replicated on a local, national, and international scale by 11 April.
