关于我们
Sigma Nu (ΣΝ) is a college fraternity that was founded by James Frank Hopkins, Greenfield Quarles and James McIlvaine Riley at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, shortly after Hopkins witnessed what he considered a hazing ritual by upperclassmen at the Virginia Military Institute. Sigma Nu's existence remained secret until the founders publicly announced their new society on January 1, 1869, which is the fraternity's recognized birth date. The fraternity has 279 (active and inactive) chapters and colonies throughout the United States and Canada and has initiated over 227,000 members. The fraternity sponsors various programming including ethical leadership development through its LEAD program and philanthropic events through its Helping Hand Initiative. It recruits new members using its Values Based Recruitment method. Sigma Nu prides itself on its anti-hazing principles, upon which the organization was founded and continues to uphold through its anti-hazing initiative. The fraternity's values are summarized as an adherence to the principles of love, honor, and truth. Because of its military heritage, Sigma Nu retains many military trappings in its chapter ranks and traditions, and places importance on the concept of personal honor.

Today, on our annual Day of Giving, we’re setting our sights on a tremendous goal to raise $50,000 for the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation’s Fund for Excellence. The Fund for Excellence provides leadership resources and educational programs for our collegiate brothers, including the Lexington Leadership Institute. Collegiate Brother Nick Gradel (Northern Illinois) attended the Lexington Leadership Institute's pilot program hosted at the new Spears Family Epsilon Epsilon Center for Excellence in July. Nick would like to thank the alumni who made this program possible. Participating in the Lexington Leadership Institute was Nick’s first opportunity to visit our Sigma Nu Headquarters in Lexington, Virginia. Meeting brothers from across the country, building relationships with our staff, and learning from our leadership consultants helped Nick gain the confidence and skills needed to lead his chapter and inspire his brothers. Please take this opportunity to give now. After making your donation, please share the Day of Giving with your network of brothers. We sincerely appreciate your support of Sigma Nu’s Day of Giving. Starting at 12 p.m. on today (October 16th), the Fraternity will celebrate the 156th anniversary of The Legion of Honor with our annual Day of Giving. Contributions will go directly to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation’s Fund for Excellence, which supports leadership development and educational programs for our collegiate brothers. Such programs include Sigma Nu’s LEAD Program and our innovative new leadership program, the Lexington Leadership Institute. This past July, our first 33 emerging Sigma Nu leaders from across the country participated in the pilot program. This new institute provided rising sophomore and junior brothers with a transformative leadership development experience hosted at our Headquarters in Lexington, Va. Your Day of Giving donation directly contributes to the continuation and expansion of our critical leadership programs. Help the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation continue inspiring ethical leaders. A gift of any size makes a measurable impact in the lives of our brothers. #DayofGiving #CountdowntoExcellence #SigmaNu #LegionofHonor

What a great opportunity for Brother Michael Castle! These are the types of opportunities that arise when we lead with the purpose of serving others. #SigmaNu #LoveHonorTruth
Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. member and Student Body President Michael Castle recently had the incredible opportunity to spend time with President George W. Bush and Former First Lady Laura Bush at the first Southern Methodist University Board of Trustees Dinner of the year. Moments like this highlight the leadership and influence our members bring to their campuses and beyond. Michael's commitment to serving his community continues to inspire, and we're excited to see what’s next for him in this pivotal role. #Leadership #SigmaNu #StudentLeadership #CampusLife #InspiringLeaders #BoardOfTrustees #FraternityLeadership

Reflecting on the Journey as a Fraternity Advisor Being a fraternity advisor is far from a walk in the park. Each day presents its own unique challenges and unexpected occurrences (cranes) that can test your patience and resolve. However, amidst the trials, there are moments of profound fulfillment and joy that make the experience truly rewarding. One of the highlights of this role is receiving messages of appreciation from the students I advise. These heartfelt acknowledgments remind me of the impact we can have on young lives and the positive influence we can exert in their personal and professional development. It reinforces my belief in the importance of mentorship and the role we play in shaping future leaders. As advisors, we navigate the complexities of supporting our students while encouraging them to grow, learn, and thrive. It’s a balancing act that requires dedication, empathy, and resilience. Yet, every challenge is an opportunity for growth – both for the students and for us as mentors. I am incredibly grateful for the relationships I've built and the trust my students place in me. Their successes and milestones inspire me to continue investing my time and energy into this important role. Here’s to the journey ahead and the countless memories yet to be made! #FraternityAdvisor #Mentorship #StudentLeadership #Gratitude #PersonalGrowth #HigherEducation Dominick Costello Zach Kroencke Maxwell Rothschiller Evan Bechac Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc.
