    EXCITING EDUCATION IN PLACE FOR SIGMA’S WINTER MEETING ? I am so excited for this year’s SIGMA Winter Meeting – February 2nd – 5th at the Hythe Vail in Vail, Colorado. ? The timing for this year’s session – Clean Fuel Compliance And Your Business – couldn’t be better. Just last week, at SIGMA’s Annual Conference, one of the hot topics was how some current carbon reduction amendments/initiatives like the California LCFS are likely to begin moving Eastward. So, if you’re one of those people who worries that you don’t know enough about the “currency of compliance,” this is perfect for you. Whether it’s RINS, LCFS, Renewable Diesel, or any of the other renewable initiatives, this top to bottom breakdown will be hugely valuable. ? And who better to teach this than my dear friend and long time colleague, Dolores Santos. I have never come across anyone else in our business who understands – from a marketer’s perspective – what this kind of compliance means to a fuel business. How does it affect fuel contracts? What indices should you use? A posted price, or a spot price? Who gets the credit, and should it be shared? These are questions that marketers need to understand. ?     SIGMA ANNUAL MEETING IS TWO WEEKS AWAY! THERE IS STILL TIME TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT There are two things that I’m thinking about right now – the upcoming SIGMA annual meeting in Boston, and the upcoming elections. I have seen my share of Presidential elections – this one promises to be the closest contest that I think I have ever seen. The outcome of this election is going to have huge reverberations around our industry. That’s why SIGMA’s annual meeting, November 12-14, 2024 at the Westin Copley in Boston is so timely, and such a must attend meeting. Already, nearly 700 C-Suite, industry professionals are going to be in attendance. Everyone is already buzzing about the panel session we are going to do with the SIGMA Government Relations Team doing a deep dive into the election results. We’re going to hear from the executive team at Global on their view of the markets, and why the Northeast region is so important.     LONG TERM OUTLOOK FOR LIQUID FUELS IS ON THE AGENDA AT SIGMA IN NOVEMBER I have to say –?I was invited to a Joint Industry meeting hosted by API a few months ago, and I was BLOWN AWAY by Mason Hamilton, who is VP Economics and Research at API. His presentation focused on how best to understand the differences, meanings and limitations of long-term energy outlook. I thought to myself – try not to fall asleep, Scott. But I must tell you – I was fascinated by Mason’s presentation and his skill as a presenter. He took an incredibly complex topic and made it easy to understand and relatable to me, and my colleagues in the room. Even more so, I realized that what he is talking about is relatable to everyone on the fuel chain – no matter how far downstream they may be. I was so impressed that I asked Mason to come and speak at SIGMA in Boston November 12-14. Mason’s presentation is called “Long Term Outlooks for Liquid Fuels.” You won’t want to miss this – you’ll be laser focused on Mason and what he has to say. You’ll learn things that you can take back to your business as you start thinking about longer term strategic planning.
