Happy 115th Founders' Day! On November 26, 1909, Sigma Alpha Mu was founded at the College of the City of New York by eight visionary men—Lester Cole, Hyman I. Jacobson, Adolph I. Fabis, Samuel Gaines, Abram N. Kerner, Jacob Kaplan, Ira N. Lind, and David D. Levinson. Their shared heritage and ideals inspired a fraternity with a deeper mission. Initially named Kappa Phi Omega (Cosmic Fraternal Order), the next week it was renamed Sigma Alpha Mu. The Founders envisioned Sigma Alpha Mu as a space where Jewish college men could form meaningful connections during a time of exclusion on many campuses. In 1953, the fraternity proudly expanded to include all men of good moral character who respect its values and traditions. Sigma Alpha Mu's membership has grown to 86,000 members across 153 chapters, all dedicated to the timeless ideals of true manhood, democracy, and humanity. Learn more about our Founders: https://lnkd.in/eKAgews4 Join the celebration: Share your memories, reconnect with fratres, or volunteer to uphold the legacy of our Founders. Long live Sigma Alpha Mu! #FoundersDay #TrueMDH #SigmaAlphaMu #ΣAM #Not4YearsForLife

October 7th will forever stand as a stark reminder of the deep-seated hatred that still targets the Jewish community and the state of Israel. The devastating?terrorist attacks in Israel claimed more than 1,200 lives and 251 hostages, with more than one hundred still held captive a?year later. The impact of these attacks have been felt across the world, in our communities, and within our fraternity.??Reported incidents of antisemitism have increased 500% year over year on college campuses. Sigma Alpha Mu?remains unwavering in our commitment to stand against hate. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated volunteers, staff, and community partners who continue to support students facing verbal intimidation, vandalism of their chapter houses, and physical assaults. Our strength lies in our unity, and together, we will continue to support and protect our members. Sigma Alpha Mu will not back down in the face of antisemitism, and we will persist with mutual?moral?aid and support. We stand strong, we stand together,?and we stand with Israel.
