We are seeing some consistent changes across institutions that provide additional evidence of the changing higher-ed market. We are sharing an analysis comparing the impact of out-of-pocket cost, or direct cost for students, on enrollment behavior year over year. As a data scientist working in higher ed, I am always looking at data around the increasing cost of education and the impact on enrollment. But what are student to student conversations about, when thinking about which college to attend? At what point in the enrollment process are students thinking about or discussing pricing? Is this ultimately more of an analytical or emotional process to pick a college? Or does it depend on the time of year and what stage the student is at? We have learned a lot in the past year from real student to student conversations on the MeetYourClass platform where prospective college students meet and ultimately make their enrollment decisions.
