#ICYMI Bethlehem Haven and Pittsburgh Mercy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 12 to mark the re-opening of Bethlehem Haven’s 1410 Fifth Ave. location. In the heart of Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood, 1410 Fifth Ave. is home to Bethlehem Haven’s permanent supportive housing program, which helps up to 26 women and gender-non-conforming people who have experienced homelessness extreme hardship and are unable to provide for their physical and mental health needs without on-site support and wrap-around services. ? This transformation was made possible by several community partners such as ACTION-Housing, Mosites Construction and Development Company , LGA Partners, SIGAL Development Services LLC , Montague Design, and Anderson Interiors, Inc., many of whom joined the celebration. In addition, McAuley Ministries , the Eden Hall Foundation and the Henry L. Hillman Foundation were the project's three main foundation partners. Their support was also critical to turning the collective vision for 1410 into a reality. Today, we celebrate a monumental moment at the Bethlehem Haven Women's Shelter Phase 1 Ribbon Cutting. Mayor Edward Gainey beautifully sums it up: "Changing from a block that delivered poison to one that delivers hope—this is now a block of hope. We turned a problem into a promise." Dez, a resident for 13 years, echoes the sentiment, saying, "I never knew the space could be transformed like this."
