Giving humanity a platform in Space to benefit life on Earth.

关于我们

Sierra Space is building a shared ecosystem in space for scientific collaboration and innovation to benefit life on Earth. With technologies that make space more affordable and accessible, we’re dedicated to creating a prosperous and secure space economy that will benefit all of humanity. Rapidly advancing toward the launch of the next generation of space transportation, the world’s first commercial spaceplane, Dream Chaser?, will perform cargo supply and return missions for NASA - delivering up to 12,000 pounds of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) at a time. Sierra Space is also the developer of the Large Integrated Flexible Environment (LIFE?), a modular, three-story inflatable habitat that we are developing as we build the first commercial space station. The unique structure will provide opportunities for multiple businesses including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors, to optimize zero gravity benefits.

During Shooting Star's acoustic test, the team placed stacks of purpose-built loudspeakers – each one a highly-engineered acoustic device – in 21-ft-tall columns surrounding the spacecraft. Over a four-day period, test engineers blasted the spacecraft with a controlled sound field that was 10,000x higher intensity than the volume of a typical rock concert, recreating the sonic intensity of a launch. A total of 48 acoustic devices were used during testing. https://lnkd.in/eef_mCpe

Our Shooting Star cargo module has successfully completed acoustic testing at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, withstanding acoustic levels greater than 140 dB for several minutes at a time, proving its flight worthiness. The test, was the first of its kind to be conducted inside the Space Systems Processing Facility (SSPF) and replicated the intense acoustic stresses Shooting Star will need to withstand during a Vulcan Centaur rocket launch to the International Space Station. Over the last eight weeks, the Engineering Solutions team hosted STEM teacher Shane Stalter through a new program from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) and IQ3 Connect. The goal was to expose him to the aerospace industry and help him develop future talent by integrating spatial and visualization technologies. The experience allowed Sierra Space to implement a new data visualization tool, IQ3 Connect to receive feedback on their UI/UX, and Shane to draft a curriculum for his students. This summer, Marcus DeLaTorre – Test Engineer II, conquered one of his goals and ascended Mt. Kilimanjaro, after his support of the Dream Chaser environmental test campaign. Proud to represent a team that’s reaching new heights, both Earth and beyond, Marcus held the Sierra Space flag high at the summit to celebrate the achievement. “Climbing to the Roof of Africa was an amazing challenge & celebration to cap off the ATF campaign before heading into final testing at KSC. I want to also thank the local Tanzanian guides at XPATS International Team for supporting my ascent.” – Marcus DeLaTorre.
