Siemens UK and Dematic had the opportunity to visit our Siemens plant for systems engineering in Chemnitz, Germany. WKC is the European market leader in switch cabinet construction for machine tools and manufactures control cabinets for a wide range of industries in machine and plant construction, as well as for the project business in the logistics and automotive sectors. It was an enlightening experience where we inspected state-of-the-art cabinets and had an extensive factory tour - we got a behind-the-scenes look at the production processes, from initial design to final assembly. One of the invisible heroes of our everyday lives are inverters. They are at the heart of industry. Recently, I convinced our clean room team in our Electronics Factory Erlangen, to open their doors and explain how we build power modules – the “heart valve” of the inverter. I joined our data analytics expert Felix Keppner to learn: ?? How we combine high-tech automation with digitalization. ???? How using data makes the lives of our colleagues much easier. ?? How we achieved the number of zero defective parts at our customers coming from this production line. I’m super proud of our team on the ground. Having an own clean room inside the factory is not just special in itself but also won us the World Economic Forum’s Digital Lighthouse Award.
