Last Week I was able to table with the Counseling Center at Saturday@Sam as a part of my Public Health internship. This experience allowed me to talk to incoming and prospective Bearkats about the services offered to SHSU students at the Counseling Center. I’m always grateful for any opportunities that allow me to give back to the campus community and I can’t wait to see what other fun things I’ll be working on as I finish my internship this semester. #shsu

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” I had the privilege of embodying this spirit of service by volunteering at Carriage Inn in Huntsville during the MLK Day of Service. Alongside other SHSU students, we worked together to clean and beautify the space, making it a more welcoming environment for residents and staff. It was incredibly fulfilling to contribute to our community and honor Dr. King's legacy of equality, social justice, and opportunity for all. Exciting News! I’m honored to be featured in Today at Sam for my experience at Our Futures Weekend at Notre Dame! EXCITING NEWS!! We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Ryan Zapalac as Dean of the College of Health Sciences effective March 1, 2025. During his nearly 20 years at SHSU, Zapalac has served as assistant department chair, acting department chair, associate dean of academic affairs, graduate programs and community engagement, and most recently, as interim dean. He has authored or co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications, six book chapters, and has done more than 50 international, regional, and statewide presentations. ?? Congratulations Dr. Zapalac!!!??
