Civility leads to better business outcomes. According to SHRM's "Managing Difficult and Political Conversations in the Workplace" research, during political conversations, civil and psychologically safe workplaces saw longer employee tenure, higher job satisfaction, and stronger trust and innovation. Higher ratings on civility and psychological safety during political conversations were also found to be related to stronger feelings of trust and behaviors related to innovation.
