The Society Of Hispanic Professional Engineers At Salt Lake Community College seeks to increase Hispanic Interest in Engineering in our community, implement programs, and provide networking opportunities for our members! Vision: SHPE’s vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematician, and engineers! Benefits/Goals: - Provide resources and opportunities for members to enhance their professional skills, including workshops, seminars, and networking events with industry professionals. - Assist members in finding internships, co-op opportunities, and full-time positions by organizing career fairs, resume workshops, and mock interviews. - Establish programs to support academic success, such as study groups, tutoring, and mentorship programs. - Engage in outreach activities to promote STEM education in local communities, especially among underrepresented groups. - Foster relationships with engineering companies and organizations to create internship opportunities, guest speaker events, and sponsorships. - Encourage members to participate in regional and national SHPE conferences and competitions to broaden their knowledge, skills, and networking opportunities. - Increase the visibility of the SHPE chapter on campus by organizing events, participating in campus activities, and utilizing social media platforms. - Develop a plan for securing funding and resources to ensure the long-term sustainability of the chapter. - Implement initiatives to ensure the retention of members by creating a supportive and welcoming environment.
