Did you know that 988 children in Gwinnett county alone are in need of a bed to call their own? This staggering number hit me hard, but it also inspired action. ???? This week, I had the privilege of volunteering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace , a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring no kid sleeps on the floor in our town. Being a small part of their mission—building beds for children who need them—was an experience I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an incredible cause and to witness the power of community coming together to make a difference. Every little bit helps, and every bed built is one step closer to a brighter future for these kids. ?? Secretary Eric Hall, Ed.D. and I had the opportunity to join John Cousins and the Tallahassee Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace for their build at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Over 3% of children in the United States don’t have a bed to sleep in each night. Today, 30 beds or 15 bunks were handmade and delivered to 7 families in Leon County. I had the pleasure of building and installing two for excited and grateful 8 and 14 year old brothers. ?? Looking forward to continued collaboration with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice to ensure no kid sleeps on the floor in this state! ???
