This week, the Show Hope team took a little break from the day-to-day and gathered for some fellowship and fun! We had a great time and enjoyed a little (friendly) competition and continued camaraderie, while also reflecting on the mission and values that keep us rooted and faithful in our daily work! To date, Show Hope has awarded $1.5 million in Medical Care grants to families, for their children who have come home through adoption, for medical expenses and equipment! Medical expenses can often be overwhelming for families on the adoption journey once their child is home, and it is our privilege to be able to come alongside them to provide financial assistance through a Medical Care grant … because of YOU and your incredible generosity and prayers! Last year, Show Hope’s work impacted more than one child per day. Families, like the Fosters, are impacted on a daily basis by the incredible generosity of Show Hope donors. As Show Hope is completely donor-funded, the more that is given to Show Hope, the more families and children we are able to provide Adoption Aid and Medical Care grants for! Through Show Hope’s 20+ years, more than 9,300 children have come to know the love and permanency of family through adoption—with thousands more being met with life-changing experiences that address trauma and loss. And perhaps more than ever, we are convinced that our work is needed and vital. Today, we want to invite you to lock arms with us in this work! Whether through giving, prayer, or advocacy, you are joining families and children, showing them in tangible ways that there is hope and help on their journey. This month, our Show Hope Book Club ??? feature “The Connected Therapist” by Marti Smith, OTR/L and TBRI? Practitioner gives parents and caregivers greater insight into the impact of trauma and how connection is impacted by our senses. Marti Smith writes, “Children have inherent worth regardless of how society might try to quantify their development. This isn’t a book about helping parents raise perfect kids. It’s a book about loving imperfect people, ourselves included. This week, please visit the National Council For Adoption action hub and ask your lawmakers to sign on to a bipartisan, bicameral letter to President Donald J. Trump asking him to work with Chinese authorities in uniting 300 waiting children with their U.S. adoptive families. To take action, visit adoptioncouncil.org/action and reach out to your respective lawmakers by 12pm ET on Friday, March 14.
