Thank you to the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation and the generous donors who contribute to help enrich our schools! For the last school year, over $100K funded 46 Engagement Grants. At Shorewood High School, grant funds were used for a chamber music coach to work with students and inspire a higher standard of performance, as seen in this impressive video by Orchestra Teacher Karen Helseth: https://lnkd.in/gcHY-Uhk If you are a Shoreline School District employee, grant applications for 2024-25 are now available: https://lnkd.in/gFTp4qgg

Congratulations to City of Shoreline City Hall for this well-deserved recognition as the #21 best place for families to live in the entire United States in 2024! Fortune's methodology included a review of nearly 200 data categories across five main themes: Education, Resources for aging adults, General wellness, Financial health, Livability. We're proud that Shoreline Schools, in some way, contributed to this honor from Fortune for one of our home cities. The only way we could be happier is if Lake Forest Park made the list, too!
The City of Shoreline was voted one of the 50 Best Places to Live for Families by Fortune! In the third annual launch of Fortunes 50 Best Places to Live for Families 2024 the City of Shoreline was voted to be one of the best places to live, ranking in at 21st place. This year’s list of 50 Best Places to Live for Families focused on cities within the U.S. that would be most likely to support the wellbeing of multigenerational families. As a City, we are proud, and humbled, to join these ranks as it really showcases the City’s value of being a Welcoming Place for All. This reaffirms and reinvigorates our drive to continue to do quality work, pour into our communities so they continue to thrive, enhance our infrastructure, and uphold our City values and mission. Thank you to the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation and the generous donors who contribute to help enrich our schools! For the last school year, over $100K funded 46 Engagement Grants. At Einstein Middle School, grant funds were used for a visual arts project that involved more than 300 students who collaborated on a theme, drafted ideas and then each painted a tile. When combined, a mural was created and permanently installed. If you are a Shoreline School District employee, grant applications for 2024-25 are now available: https://lnkd.in/gFTp4qgg To contribute to the Foundation's efforts to support students in our district, visit: https://lnkd.in/g7tcVMYy

"Teaching is not just a profession, it's a journey of shaping minds and fostering growth. Over my 12 years in the classroom and 5 years within the vibrant tapestry of the dual language program, I've witnessed the transformative power of education firsthand. Briarcrest and the Shoreline School District have been my nurturing grounds since I moved to Washington, where every day I'm inspired by the curiosity and resilience of my students. I'm deeply grateful for the warm embrace of this community, as together, we embark on the endless pursuit of knowledge and understanding." - Jafeet Corral, 2nd Grade Dual Language Teacher, Briarcrest Elementary School We are celebrating Teacher and Certificated Staff Appreciation Week in Shoreline Schools. "What a joy it is to be a reading teacher at Highland Terrace Elementary School! Each day I have the privilege of nurturing students as they grow in their reading skills. I feel fortunate that the Shoreline School District leadership prioritizes equitable literacy practices and I am always eager to learn together with my peers about the Science of Reading and explicit instruction. It is a treasure to be a part of a young reader's journey, to learn their story and acknowledge their gifts. There is nothing better than the sparkle of pride in a student's eyes when we track their growth and celebrate their accomplishments!" - Donna Hoffman, Learning Assistance Program Teacher, Highland Terrace Elementary School We are celebrating Teacher and Certificated Staff Appreciation Week in Shoreline Schools. Please join us in thanking them for all that they do for our students!

"When I see a student transforming before my eyes, taking ownership for their learning and flourishing, it's an amazing thing to witness. The growth is different for each student in the way it unfolds and it never gets boring. This beautiful metamorphosis is what brings me back to teaching every year." - Aubrey Ashenbrenner, 3rd Grade Teacher, Meridian Park Elementary School We are celebrating Teacher and Certificated Staff Appreciation Week in Shoreline Schools. Please join us in thanking them for all that they do for our students!

"In my role as dean I have the privilege of seeing and working with every student at Highland Terrace. I love the ability to connect and establish relationships with the students as they move through elementary school. It is so rewarding to see how they learn and grow through their elementary career. We have an incredible team of staff, students, and families." - Kelsey Graves, Dean of Students, Highland Terrace Elementary School We are celebrating Teacher and Certificated Staff Appreciation Week in Shoreline Schools.
