You know it's a good time when you forget to snap a photo of the whole group ?? So grateful for the wonderful people from NBCU, Macy's, Lowes, Zola, Nanit, Great Jones, YUMI, Cosmos, Accenture, Uncommon Goods, Rainbow Shops, and Coalition Operators who joined us last night for Canal's dinner in NYC. NYC's growing retail marketplace scene is so vibrant and fun. It was refreshing to get offline and see so many great retail leaders and creatives connect in person in a beautiful setting. Some takeaways from last night's convo: - Even the largest marketplaces are constantly thinking about how to attract new audiences and drive more traffic from social, search, and media - Using internal search data to determine what to merchandise greatly depends on your customers' behavior (do people come to your site to explore and discover, or directly to purchase something specific?) - There are worthwhile secondary goals with 3P marketplace assortment beyond sales; for ex, aligning yourself with sustainability values in selling secondhand (rather than actually caring about reselling a $XXk bag) Loved seeing both old friends and meeting new ones.
